The Columbia logo Columbia’s logo, a lady carrying a torch, originally appeared in 1924. The first model for the logo is unknown, although Bette Davis claimed that Claudia Dell was used.[3] In 1936, the logo was somewhat changed, with the Columbia “Torch Lady” appearing with shimmering light behind her. This logo was used for a total of 40 years. 1976′s Taxi Driver was one of the last films to use the “Torch Lady” in her classic appearance. In 1976, Columbia (like other studios) experimented with a new logo. It began with the familiar lady with a torch, but the torch-light rays then formed an abstract blue semi-circle depicting the top half of the rays of light, with the name of the studio appearing under it. The television counterpart used only the latter part of the logo, and the semi-circle was either orange or red. This logo was replaced with a modernized version of the “Torch Lady” in 1981. After Columbia’s purchase by Coca-Cola, radio talk-show host Michael Jackson of KABC-AM joked that the Torch Lady should be holding a Coke bottle instead.[citation needed] In 1993, the logo was repainted digitally by New Orleans artist Michael Deas. It has been rumored that Annette Bening was the model, but in fact Deas used a model named Jenny Joseph Video Rating: 4 / 5
Question by : Why doesn’t Mexico and Columbia just kill all the drug lords and burn the Heroin fields?
It seems like such a simple solution. When more people die daily in just 1 Mexican city than die in the entire country of Iraq.
Is it because they are scared the drug lords will kill off all the politicians.
If it is because of the money brought into mexico by drugs. Why don’t they just clean up the country and make it a tourist destination?
Best answer:
Answer by football5680 Its because the Drug Lords are more powerful than the people who run the country.
Many towns have no police because the gangs will kill anybody who becomes a police officer and even if their are police the gangs have already corrupted them by either paying or threatining their life. People do not even call the police because most are corupt and they would tip off the gangs if somebody was telling on them.
All these countries are poor and the gangs are stronger than the military and police.
Heroin isn’t really produced in Central and South America. It is produced in Afghanistan.
Cocaine is produced in Columbia.
The people grow and produce the drugs because it is their only chance of making money to survive. The farmers barely make enough to survive and they can’t grow anything else that will make them enough money to survive. The gangs buy the drugs really cheap and the big money is made when they transport it over the border into the U.S.
