Lord Balaji And His Other Names
The term Lord Balaji is recently used as another name for Venkateshwara. Lord Balaji or Venkateshwara is known as the one who is in charge of destroying sins or the Supreme Lord. He is also included as main deity out of 108 Tirupathy or Divya Desams.
According to the ancients Vishnu Kautuvam, he is being described as Souryarayan. He is the fighter and destroyer of evil and the one to comfort humans. Lord Balaji is known in other different names as well. They are as follows: Srinivasa, Sripathi, Rirumalesa, ThiruMaal, Venkatachalapathi and a whole lot more.
The traditional Shiva worshipping followers or communities all over Kamataka worships him using Tirupati Thimmappa as his name. There are seven hills that surround that area, and it influenced other names for the said deity in the likes of, Edukondalavadu (Telugu) and Ezthumalaiyan (Tamil), both means “The Lord of Seven Hills”.
There is a legend that says, the temple is with murti or the deity of Lord Balaji. He is assumed to have lived there for his entire Kali Yuga. He is known to have taken a promise to protect all living creatures that seek and worship him. To them, he is the Lord who creates, destroys and protects the whole universe.
The hill is said to be a part of a celestial mount called meru, it was brought to earth by Vaikuntam using the Lord’s vehicle or Garuda. This is all according to the puranas. It was said that the seven hills are manifestation of the cosmic serpent or Adi Sesha. The hills are also said to represent Adi Sesha’s seven hoods.
A lot of saints, alvars and Vaishnavacharyas are known to have praised the Tirumala Hill with nothing but great faith and devotion. A descendant of the great ascetic that is what Tirumala Mambi is all about. He did nothing but spent his entire life serving the Lord.
Tirumala is included in the list of 108 sacred shrines. This is all in accordance with the traditions of Sri Vaishanava says the Puranas. The Lord Vishnu was known to have stayed on earth in the Avatar of Swetha Varaham and he then rose from pushkarini as Swayambhuva. He was married to Lakshmi Devi, who then appeared in Thiruchamur. The Swatha Varaha Avatharam is placed in a temple located in the west of Swamy Pushkami. A lot of people visits the said temple and worships following the Sri Vaishnava to date.
